Catherine's Corner TANKERSLEY, FOWLER, JEWETT and ot

Updated November 9, 2000

About Our Family Research

I wish my parents had been born wealthy, and their hundred or so descendant left with a life of ease. As it was, they left us with a truly magnificent heritage of family love.

The children, grandchildren, greatgrandchildren, etc., of JUDGE and VIRGINIA Fowler TANKERSLEY gather each year at Lake Wheeler, and Alabama State Park on the banks of the Tennessee River, to share a weekend of fun, food and remembrance.

Although we are scattered from coast to coast (Washington D.C. to San Francisco) and from Florida to Illinois, our roots are still in the south, and for most of us that means ALABAMA.

We may not agree on who should win the ALabama - Auburn Game, or on Politics, religion, or much of anything else we agree that Papa Judge had the best watermellons in the South, and Mama Virgie baked the best apple pie and yeast rolls. -- AND that family means very much to all of us.

Virginia Fowler Tankersley lived a long and difficult life. She was ingenious in finding ways to keep her brood of children clothed and fed, and at the same time stayed up to date on current events, active in her church and community.
