After my mother died in 1963, I felt a great need to gather information about our family. Of course, I picked up the surnames on both sides of my family and those of my husband as well.
These are my family lines that I am researching: Shelton, Valencourt, Dawkins, Givens, Joslin (Gosselin), Northrup and my husband's family: Jull, Whitaker, Ambserry, Price.
Someone once told me that they had completed their genealogy research. I wondered how far back they had gone, because I have not found a place to stop.
During the last 10-15 years of my work history, I was a research analyst. That may have helped me to continue the research.
My ancestors on my paternal side lived in Virginia, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, and Michigan after coming here from England. My husband's family also came from England.
My maternal ancestors came from Quebec, Quebec, Canada to Vermont and Michigan. I am assuming that they came from France since I have not traced their ancestry trees that far.
