January, 2004 - I have just begun doing research on my families history and was pleased to discover that my inablility to stay in one place and put down roots was inherited from many generations of folks with the wanderlust.
Starting with my Grandfather Theodore Roosevelt Howard. I have been told that he was born on the Cherokee Indian Reservation in Oklahoma in 1906 and at the age of 11 he left home and headed to California.
My Grandfather Charles Resch came to the U.S. from Austria, when he was about three years old, approx. 1900. He settled in and around Baltimore, MD.
My Grandmother Mildred Shore was born in California in 1914. She lived in a lot of locations in southern CA and died in 1941 from TB. Her father was born in Lucas County, Iowa. Her Grandfather was born in Carroll County, Ill. and Great-grandfather was born in Huntingdon County, PA.
