About Our Family Research

Just a little something about myself. I love my family. I enjoy genealogy, archaeology, history and my family. I love people. I love Hawaii. Here is just an excerpt of my life and activities:

April 18, 2008, Friday, I, went to Kona, HI for the 95th Anniversary Ahahui Kaahumanu Kona Chapter. I learned that my cousin, Patricia Kimura Lewi, is the Pelekikena for the Waimea Chapter. Her mother's father and my grandma Tsugi are brother & sister. My sister Lei, nephew Samson Kalani and I went up Kona to pick lehua, etc. for my lei po`o to wear @ our Ahahui dinner @ Royal Kona Resort. We later ventured to Pu`uhonua `o Honaunau -the House of Lono were having their ceremonies -wanted to find where our Ahahui paina for Saturday lunch was to be held. My sister Lei, my niece Pomai and nephew Samson Kalani relaxed on the lava rocks at the shoreline @ the sea. The rocks were warm and the ocean refreshing. Yes, the vog was apparent but did not seem to harm my asthma any. It was so beautiful and relaxing. That night I went to dinner @ the Alii Room in the Royal Kona Resort. Saturday, Pomai and I went to paina Pu`uhonua `o Honaunau. There was all the fixings of a luau, entertainment, bazaar, guest speakers -it was wonderful. Sunday the 20th we had an early morning Continental Brunch @ the Royal Kona Hotel, picture taking and Mokuaikaua Church service for our Ahahui. It was my 1st time @ Kona chapel LDS, stake conference.

April 26, 2008, Saturday, went to Kauai with my friend Janie Salazar. We had Lappert's ice cream in Koloa town; watched the US Roping Rodeo @ CW Ranch in Koloa; scenic route around Poipu Beach coastline; swimming @ Salt Pond Beach Park; lunch in Hanapepe Leong's; headed to Aloha Beach Resort (old Holiday Inn) on Opelu Drive, relax, checkin, checkout Wailua River; Opaekaa Falls, unwind from the days activities -Hamura's Saimin to top the night. Sunday, sacrament in Kapaa. Meet up with Christina for Kaiakea's LUA ceremony & potluck in Waimea. Great ceremony & lots of food. Went back to Kapaa for a swim in the pool back @ the resort with Kaiakea, Christina &
Gavin. Janie & I had to get our fill of Hamura's to top the night!

May 5-8, 2008, Monday thru Thursday, I was hospitalized Kaiser Permanente Moanalua with a 103 degree temp, UTI sepsis severe infection to my bladder which turned into pyelonephritis to my left kidney discovering a mass and cyst; antibiotic therapy ciproflaxin twice a day is what I'm taking now until I see my doctor on May 20th. I went through an MRI, CATscan and Sonogram. I have yet to find out what my physician will do about the mass and cyst on left kidney.

Great news! I, Sonia, have taken steps towards my endowment completing my interview with my Bishop Tuesday the 13th. My interview with our Stake President is this Sunday the 18th for my temple recommend. I pray that I can complete my task on the 23rd Friday which is my mother's birthday.

May 31, 2008, Saturday, I go to Kauai. Son, Kaiakea, getting married. June 2nd, Monday, brother, Kahekili, arrives in Kauai with his ohana. Dad arrives Thursday, June 5th after work. Ohana from everywhere is coming to celebrate with Kaiakea & Christina.

Celebrations on June 7, 2008, Saturday, son, Kaiakea will marry Christina @ Princeville on Kauai; neice, Pomai will graduate from Kealakehe High School in Kona, HI; and nephew, Nainoa will be graduating from Kailua High School on Oahu.

July 26, 2008, Saturday, we will be attending our CUMMINGS Ohana reunion in Waikapu, MAUI. My Grandma, my mom's mom, Carrie Dutro's, gggg-grandfather Thomas Booth CUMMINGS of Boston, Massachusetts descendants will gather to bond as a family. This is always an awesome occassion.
