My name is Alla Kats. My family immigrated to the United States from Ukraine in 1995, and, to help my children better understand our heritage, I am researching our family tree.
My maternal great grandfather, Velvel Schneider, lived in the small Ukranian shtetl of Jurin. His descendants are scattered all across the world; the United States, Germany, Australia, Israel, and Ukraine itself.
My father's side of the family comes from the Ukranian town of Tamashpol. Their last name was Snitkovsky. I would appreciate any information about my grandparents, David Snitkovsky and Rosa Specktor, and their predecessors.
I am also researching my husband's family. His maternal grandparents, Nuchim and Brana Russovsky, were killed in the concentration camp Mertvaya Petlya, in Petchora, Ukraine (in 1943).
I have absolutely no information on the relatives of my father-in-law, Moysey Kats.
If there is anyone who knows any information, I would be eternally grateful, as well as willing to share the information I myself have collected.
