I have only just begun. My husband's paternal side came from Europe in the early 1900's (Katz). His maternal side, I believe, but am not sure, also is from Europe; their last name was Reich.
My parents are currently in New Jersey, however, hale from Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. My mother's family, McDaniel, have, apparently, very deep roots in Margaree Forks, Cape Breton Island. My father's great grandfather, James Dunn, born 1792, came to Margaree Forks in the mid-1800's from Tipparary, Ireland. He was married to Jane Fitzgerald and had 10 children: Genevieve, Michael, Johannah, Andrew, Maurice, Ellen, Thomas, Jane, Mary, and Unknown Child.
I am lucky to have an aunt in Margaree who has been putting together a family tree, and I have obtained quite a bit of information from her thus far that I probably would not otherwise have obtained - at least not without much effort.
It was interesting to find out where in Ireland my ancestors were from, and to learn a bit of them in the meantime.
