My name is Alexandra Keen and I live in Scotland. I was born in Renfrew. My Family consisted of my Father, my Mother, three sisters, two brothers, and Aunt Jean.
My Grandfather came to Scotland from Ireland. He came from a place called Ballycastle in Ireland and his name was Thomas Patton.
He arrived in Rothesay from Ireland on the boat and worked there for some time. He met and married my Grandmother Elizabeth Miller in Rothesay.
My Father was born in Govan, Glasgow, and the family moved to 4 Birks Road, Renfrew.
My Grandfather I believe changed his name when he came to Scotland. He removed one of the T's and became Thomas Paton.
GOLLAND is another name that comes up in the family, but we are not sure where it comes from.
FRAZER also comes in somewhere, but again we cannot be sure. It has been said that SIMON FRAZER is an ancestor, but unsure of the details at the moment.
My father was one of several children. The amount is now unsure, family members we speak to have different totals, so I can say it was more than 9, but the amount could be anything up to 13.
We think a couple died in childhood, but unsure of the names etc. There was also a brother who went down with The Hood.
The names we know for sure are ROBERT (MY FATHER); WILLIAM (BILL); JAMES (JIMMY); THOMAS (TOMMY); MARGARET; ELIZABETH (BETTY); HELEN (ELLEN); JEAN (Cochrane)(Who lived with my parents all their married life)
I would be pleased to hear from anyone who may be able to help me. There are children out there from my fathers brothers who I have never met, and do not know their names. If anyone can help please e mail and I will reply.
