I am beginning to research the roots of both my maternal and paternal ancestors. My mother's mother grew up in Penrod, Kentucky (Muhlenberg County) and her father grew up in Jeffersonville, Indiana (Clark County). My Father's father was born in Letcher County, Kentucky. His mother was a Stewart with a line tracing back to Scotland. Both my maternal and paternal relatives spread out throughout the county, but many resided and still reside in Ohio. My maternal family came from Tennessee to Kentucky in the 1800s. Before there I don't know. I have Ramsey, Claridy, Burke, Smith, Stewart, Gilmore and Shepherd blood in me and I would like to trace more.
