I've been researching on and off for about two years now, and have run into a few surprises along the way. The research has included Michigan, Ohio, Illinois, California, Iowa, Nebraska,Minnesota, and West Virginia, as well as Florida.
There have been a few brick walls, and hopefully, I'll break through them one of these days. I wish I'd started this search much earlier, when more of the older generation were still here. My father and his brothers are not available,nor are my grandparents,and many other aunts and uncles. It is never too late, my advice to any others searching, is start early, pay attention to the older folks, and ASK THEM QUESTIONS,and get it down on paper,or your computer. The majority of us started as immigrants, the whys and wheres are sometimes lost,and everyones story is interesting and important.
