Elizabeth Edgell is great grand-daughter of Mary Ice and Pucksinekau (Shawnee)? Did they have a daughter, who married an unknown Edgell, also of Shawnee descent on mother's side--(I could not find Indian name, yet) who had a son?, James Edgell, who married Mary Staples..who had Elizabeth Edgell, according to the Owens family tree, HOWEVER, Elizabeth Edgell (Forrester) was BORN in June of 1838--which coincides with the time that the Removal of the Cherokee took place: June 2-20th, 1838, yet her obituary, written by her husband in 1910 states that she was "Chickapoo Indian"--there was no such tribe, and my cousins have said that Elizabeth Edgell was adopted, and I also heard years ago that she was "Cherokee".. and Mary Staples and James Edgell were married and died, long before MY Elizabeth Edgell was born! (so they could not have been her parents, adopted her, or otherwise). My great-great grandmother was Elizabeth Edgell, she married Jacob Forrester (Scottish lowlanders), a gunsmith. They had Frances Marion Forrester who married Emma Owens (my great grandparents) who had William Alonzo Forrester, who married Ida Owens (my maternal grandparents) I just found my grandmother,I think, Ida Owens, on the Dawes Rolls!! card # 8503- enrollment type BB (by blood) age-7, Blood % FULL, roll # 19728, Cherokee. I also found Emma Owens card # 2647, age 29, enrollment type by blood, blood % IW, roll no: NR--Choctaw. Interesting, eh? we are related to Tecumseh, somehow?--but how? Now I discover that "Indian Billy" (Galloway-Iaac--brother of Mary Ice, AKA "Methoatsko" --turtle lays her eggs in the sand--who married Pucksinekau) also adopted a Shawnee girl, who he named after his sister--"Mary Ice"... Yes, Marguerite Mary Ice ( Scottish and German?, but raised by the Shawnee) and Pucksinekau had 8 children, one of them Tecumseh!--he was born in Lewis County (Virginia) in 1768. Tecumseh had one daughter U i Naythawayna born 1799, and died 1840. Now, if anyone on the Forrester, Owens, Ice or Edgell sides can enlighten me on this matter, it would be greatly appreciated!
