My great-grandfathers' name was Gregoria Perla and he was born in San Cataldo, Sicily around 1864. He married Giovanna Collana from Campobello, Sicily. Her date of birth was 11/2/1886. They had 5 children together. In 1903, my grandfather came to the states through Ellis Island. Two years later, my grand-mother arrived with their five children to join him. I cannot verify that she ever found him. Rumor has it that he died shortly after her arrival.
I have not been able to find a death record for him. The last record I found was a 1905 census where he was listed. However, he was not listed in the 1906 census. My great-grandmother remarried Rosario DiBartolo, 6 years later.
