Includes NotesNotes for Emma (Regina) Kohlbrenner:
Emma Kohlbrenner was born on May 16, 1893. When her parents took her to church to be baptized, the priest told them that Emma was not a Saint's name; therefore she could not use it. He said that his own mother was named Regina, and he thought that this was a beautiful name. They could baptize her Regina, but call her Emma. This is what they did! She was second youngest of eleven children, and always loved being around people of all ages. After living in "The City", her family moved to "The Meadows". This was on the southwest edge of Philadelphia, and at that time, really the country. Emma left school after the eighth grade and went to work. Since the trolley was such a distance, one of her brothers would usually take her to the trolley line by horse and buggy! Although she lived close to her future husband as a child, they never met until both lived in The Meadows. Emma married Robert Prettyman, and they had two sons and two daughters. As a wife, mother and grandmother, Emma was dearly loved.

Children of Emma (Regina) Kohlbrenner and Robert Alexander Prettyman are:
  1. +Elizabeth Regina Prettyman, b. February 25, 1933, Phila., Pa..
  2. Anna Catherine Prettyman, b. October.
