Notes for Florence Gee: Florence's mother died in 1910 when Florence was only eight years old. She and her sister Mary Ellen were taken to a Catholic Home. Their brother was sent to a boys home; but because he kept running away, they allowed him to remain with his father. Mary Ellen went to live on a farm as a foster child. This family renamed her "Marie" because they had a daughter of their own named Mary. Florence was a small thin child. She hoped desperately to be chosen to live with a family too. One day Mrs. Perkins came to the Home looking for someone to help her at home. When she saw Florence, she took her with her. Her husband said that he thought they were going to get someone to help, not have another small child to care for! The Perkins welcomed Florence into their family; and she stayed with them until she was grown. They were known later to Florence's children as Grandpop and Grandmom Perkins.
Florence married John Cunningham and had three boys. Later, because Florence was separated from her husband, the boys were taken from her and went to foster homes.
Florence later met and married Thomas Kelly. They had four boys and two girls.
Tom died on January 6, 1982, and Florence died on July 13, 1987. They both are buried at New Cathedral Cemetery in Philadelphia.
