Notes for Fridolin Kohlbrenner: Fridolin preceded his half-brothers, Philip, George and Joachim to Philadelphia by a few years, arriving between 1853 and 1856. He was a brewer and ran a hotel at 533 Callowhill Street in Philadelphia from about 1857 until his death in 1872. The 1867 Phila, City Directory lists the business as "Kohlbrenner's Beer Saloon and Hotel"! After his death, his wife Marie married August Richter, and the business continued to be run by her and her new husband, along with Fridolin's sons Albert and Emil. Son Emil was listed there until at least 1886. All of the houses on Callowhill Street were torn down when the Benjamin Franklin Bridge was built. All that remains now are the approach roads to the bridge. In US records, Fridolin is listed as Frederick.
