Kieliszewski A.K.A. Kelly/Kelley family, Upper Michigan area

About Our Family Research


The Kieliszewski family came from Poznan, Poland thru Germany in the 1870's. Four brothers came over and then sent for their parents later, Alexander was born in Germany and possibly his sister Rose. They came to Michigan and settled in the Preque Isle county in the twp of Krakow town of Posen. I am sure Great grandfathers name was Anthony Kieliszewski but the family changed it to Kelly. This was not a legal change so the reason for the A.K.A.
His family was Alexander,Rose, Catherine, Anthony, Anthonia, John F., Mary J., Maggie, Anna, Frank, Josephine and Peter J.,. They moved to Alpena and resided at the corner of 11th and River street. The Sisters Catherine and Anna married nowicki men or brothers in Rogers City and Josephine married E. Karpas.. John left the area and went to Calif. about 1900-1910. Mary J. Moved to Duluth and married a Toan and then moved to Seattle, Wash.
