We're (my webring and me) attempting to figure out which Edward Kelley (b. abt. 1750; m. abt. 1773)is our ancestor , which counties did he live in PA [elsewhere?], when was he living there, where was he born, who were his parents (what was their lineage), what was his wife Elizabeth's maiden name (what was her ancestry)? We find evidence of an Edward Kelley family in Chester County, Cumberland County, Franklin County and Northumberland County, prior to Venango County and Armstrong County, PA (all). It's believed that he served in the Militia from one of these counties during the Revolutionary War.
Edward and Elizabeth Kelley may (or it's possible Edward was married earlier?) have had seven (7) children, including (not necessarily in any order: Elizabeth (b. abt. 1774; m. [unknown] Smith?), John (b. abt. 1775, m. Mary Beatty), Nancy (b. abt. 1783), Jane (b. abt.1785), Azariah (b. abt. 1787), James(unknown) and William (unknown, m. Elizabeth [unknown]). Edward apparently died in 1814 (Armstrong Co.), while Elizabeth probably died during the 1820s (Armstrong Co.?).
Azariah may have been married to three (3) different women multiple times: 1)Jane Beatty [b. abt. 1796 NY?; m. abt. 1815] eight (8) children [William b.1816, Joseph b.1817, Eliza b.1819, Nancy b.1821, Frutilla b.1823, Mary b.1825, Jane b.1827 {note the seven (7) year gap} and John b.1834], 2)Rachel ([unknown m. 1828-1833?] children unknown) and 3)Hannah Johnston b. abt 1808 in PA(Allegheny Co.)6 children [Sarah Ann b. ?, Mary Jane b. abt. 1835, {note the six (6) year gap} Cinderella b. abt. 1841, Lucinda Bagley b. 1842, Amanda b. abt. 1844 and Charlotta B. abt. 1845]. Azariah Kelley is believed to have died in the 1860s (Clarion Co.?), while Jane Beatty Kelley is believed to have died during the 1870s (Clarion Co.?). Hannah Johnston Kelley died 1891 and is buried in Pittsburgh.
Joseph Kelley, the second oldest child of Azariah and Jane Beatty Kelley was born 8-3-1817. He married Permelia Haight (born 8-1817 /1818 in NY) in 1844. They apparently had 5 children that reached adulthood (David Sanderson 1846,Washington Wayne 1848, Phoebe Jane 1850, Winfield Scott 1853 and William Fremont 1856) all in PA. David S. & Washington W. served during the Civil War from the Pittsburgh area. After the Civil War, the entire Joseph Kelley family emigrated to Faribault Co, MN. Joseph Kelley died 1881 & is buried in Wells, MN. Permelia Haight Kelley died in 1893 and is buried in Wells, MN.
Winfield Scott Kelley married Estella Marie Eldred (b. 2-5-1854 WI) on 12-21-1874 probably in Wells, MN. They had seven (7) children (Joseph b. 1876, Francis b. 1879, Lillian b. 1880, Clara b. 1884, Adelbert b. 1887, Florence b. 1888 and (Le)Roy Noble b. 3-11-1893). Winfield Scott Kelley died in 1914 in Austin, MN and is buried in Wells, MN. Estella Marie Eldred Kelley died in 1930 in Red Wing, MN. She is also buried in Wells, MN.
(Le)Roy Noble Kell(e)y was married to Hazel Leatha Griffith Kelley (b. 7-6-1899) on 6-3-1916. They had eight (8) children (Claude James b. 1917, Kenneth Kay b. 3-19-1919, Eugene Leroy 1920, Jerald Winfield b. 1922, Richard Neal b. 1923, Shirley Eileen b. 1928, Mary Jayne b. 1935 and Elline Ellvonne b. 1942). (Le)Roy Noble Kelley died in 1983 and is buried in Austin, MN. Hazel Griffith Kelley is also deceased and buried in Austin, MN.
I'm interested in connections to the Beatty, Eldred, Griffith, Haight, Johnston and Smith families, as well as other related family names to this greater KELLEY Family Tree of PA, MN, MA, NY, OH, WI and beyond. Where did the earlier ancestors of these family members originate in Europe? Thank you very much for any and all assistance that may be forthcoming pertinent to our greater Family History/ Genealogy, primarily in PA.
