Henry WINDECKER UE Johann Adam JUNG/YOUNG UE and Cattarina Elizabeth SCHREMLING UE-Johann Adam Jung, son of Theobald Jung was born 1717 in Stone Arabia, near Foxtown, New York. He and his sons John,Daniel, Henry, Abraham and David fought with Butler's Rangers in the American Revolution, remaining loyal to the British. David and Abraham were killed in action. Adam, John,Daniel and Henry settled first in Niagara in 1783 and then moved to land along the Grand River in Haldimand Co., Ontario. This "Young Tract" was land given to them as compensation for lands they owned in New York that were confiscated by the Patriots. A commemorative plaque was erected in 1999 along the banks of the Grand River, overlooking the Young Family Burying Grounds. This was erected by Young family descendants to honour Adam and his sons John,Daniel, Henry, Abraham and David. I have published a manuscript "Adam Young UE 1717-2006 Family History". It contains much data on the Young family. The proceeds from the 250 page manuscript are going to restore one of the Young family cemeteries that is in much need of repair.
Most of these families were United Empire Loyalists who settled in Upper Canada in 1783 after the American Revolution 1775-1783
Our ancestors have many tales to tell.
