M.D. Griffith J. Scholl (b. August 22, 1800, d. July 08, 1882)

HENRY SCHOLL WHO RESIDED IN LEHIGH COUNTY.GRIFFITH WENT ON TO GRADUATE FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF PENN MEDICAL SCHOOL. 3. HE PRACTICED MEDICINE IN NORTHAMPTON AND LEHIGH COUNTIES FOR OVER 60 YEARS. Griffith Scholl was born in Allentown, Pennsylvania on August 22, 1800. At 9 years of age his family moved to the state of New York. In the early 1820's Griffith returned to Leleigh County, Pennsylvania to study medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and at his brother's office, Dr. Henry Scholl. He married Catherine Feustermacher of Kreitersville, Northampton County on August 16, 1824 and lived in Fogelsville, Lehigh County. They had a daughter, Clara, born in Fogelsville on October 11 1836, as well as four other children, Henry, Joseph, Allen, and Sevella. In 1842, the Scholls moved to Newburg in Northampton County, where they lived for about four years. Sometime around 1846, they moved to Hecktown where they established the family homestead near what is now the Hecktown Cemetery. Griffith Scholl continued to practice medicine until six weeks before his death on June 8, 1882 at 82 years of age. His wife, Clara, died at the family homestead on Feb. 1, 1885. A daughter, Mrs. Valentine Heller (Sevella) contined to live on the original family homestead after the death of her parents.
