William Jim Walley and his wife Mary lived in South Carolina until he passed away after 1805. Mary and her children then moved to Mississippi after 1810. The sons of William and Mary married the daughters of John Gardner who immigrated about the same time.

Some of the descendants believe that Thomas was married to Mary, however, it seems that Thomas was more likely the oldest son of William Jim and Mary.

It is believed that William Jim Walley was born about 1750 and was probably born in South Carolina. There are some who believe his father was Thomas Walley who was married to Jemima Turbeville (Troublefield).
