Louis was born in France about 1600 - either at Gif-sur-Yvette, Palaiseau, Paris or Glen, Orleans, Loiret - depending on which source you believe. Has anyone found the records of his birth place, date or Louis' parents names?
Louis was listed in the 1666 census of Cote St Jean, Quebec, as 66 years old.
Louis married Marie Challe Charier in 1625, in France, where they had one daughter, Marie, in 1627.
He then married Marie Grimoult in 1636, also in France. They came to Montreal, Quebec the same year, where their 6 children were born.
My father's branch of the Sedilot tree descends from Michel Sedilot-dit-Montreuil (1786-1864), a ggggrandson of Louis, from St Polycarpe, Soulange, Quebec. In the generations after Michel, many variations of the name are found in the records: Sedilot, Sedillot, Cedillot, Cedillotte, Cedilo-dit-Montreuil, Cedilot-dit-Lamer, Lamer, Lamarre, Montreuil, and Montroy, among others. My branch is just plain "Lamer", starting with my grandfather Arthur Lamer (1884-1946) of Soulange.
