My great-great-grandparents were John James and Mary Ann Kennerley (nee Hall), dates and places of birth unknown. They lived in Burnley, where their son, my great-grandfather William Kennerley was born in October 1894. He had three brothers, John (who married Alice), Harry and Albert, and a sister, Ida. William was married to Edna and they had three children, Harry, Ida and Arthur (my grandfather), who was born in August 1921. Arthur met my grandmother, Mary Turner, whilst working in Birmingham during the Second World War, and he married her in August 1941. My father, Terence Kennerley, was born in Birmingham in January 1942, and was raised in Burnley after his parents moved there during the war. My grandparents were divorced in 1954. My father's aunt, Ida Kennerley, swam for Lancashire in the 1950s, and after getting married, she and her husband David emigrated to New Zealand. They had a daughter, Pam. Ida's two brothers, Arthur (my grandfather) and Harry, were also keen swimmers. Arthur's brother Harry married Pat and they had four children, Anne, William, and twins John and Peter. My father met my mother, Brenda Foran, in 1960, and they married in October 1965. I was born in June 1967 and my brother Craig in May 1971. My grandfather died in 1972. I remember from my early childhood John Kennerley, and his wife Alice, both now deceased. I have recently discovered that my father's cousin Peter lives in my area. Since my surname seems to be uncommon, I am interested to find out more about any family members, past and present, wherever they live(d).
