I have been working on our family tree since 1983, it has been a challenge and I have enjoyed every minute. Just to understand a little of what their life might have been. To find out how poor they were [ Italians] . They lived in row houses on Illinoise st. in Buffalo. A couple of summers ago help was being sought to help with the removel of the cobble stones, and the cleaning of them so the cobble stones could be put back on the street like they were in the late 1800's. I went to help thinking, this is where my Great Grandparents once walked and lived. It was a great feeling. my husband thought I was nuts. Each piece of information I gather helps me to understand them and their lives. The joys of their childen born, the sadness of the loss of a child, the living conditions, the parents who died and the children put in an orphanage. All this helped to make who our parents are and who we are, the braveness of these people who came here to give us the opportunity to have a better life. This is a life time project and well worth doing.
