I am researching the Helfer family from Mocksville, NC. Amos Y. Helfer (b.1845)m. Rebecca Holmes and moved to Hamilton Co.,IN in 1868. Childern: Sarah J., Thomas Marion, Sophia Edna, and Albert. I am descended from Albert Helfer.
I am also researching the Hawks and Johnson lines. These families are from Ohio and Indiana. Alpheus Chaffee Hawks (b. 1825) m.Charlotte Gerturde Mead. Children: Charles Alpheus, Willima Mead, Adelaide C. and Mary. I am descended from Charles Alpheus who lived in the Jefferson, OH, area. His grandson, William Foster Hawks married my grandmother, Pauline L. Johnson (daughter of Manson U. Johnson and Mary Elizabeth Plackard) of Astabula, OH, in 1920.
I also have ties to the May, Gipson and Cottingham lines. I would appreciate any information you might have and would be happy to share my information.
