Thomas Kirwan worked in the mines near Avoca, Co. Wicklow, Ireland. He and his wife, Catherine Byrne, had four sons, James (b. 1859), Thomas (b. 1864), Michael Martin (b. 1865), and Philip F. (b. 1867). Michael and his brother Philip emigrated to Boston in 1891, where they married Catherine Fallon and Elizabeth Darcy, respectively. Thomas married Kathleen Redmond and settled in Cornelscourt, near Foxrock in the South of Co. Dublin. Of James I know no more. I am also researching Staveley, Tolkien, Laffey, Mair, Rosmarin, Bestenbostel, Niebour and Carr family lines. And if you can help me solve the riddle of Dr. John Thomas Lionel Simpson, who practiced medicine in Boston at the turn of the century, I'll be forever in your debt.

- Irish Civil Registration - Kirwan Deaths (136 KB)
I have also begun extracting Kirwan records from the Irish Civil Registration Index of Marriages. Again, they are all Kirwans (or variant spellings), and they are ordered by year of marriage, and then by first name. In those cases where I have obtained the actual certificate, I have listed the exact date of the death and other information.
- Irish Civil Registration - Kirwan Births (513 KB)
In the process of trying to find my Kirwan ancestors, I have begun extracting all Kirwan records from the Irish Civil Registration Index to Births. The records are listed in chronological order, then alphabetically by first name. All are Kirwans (or variant spellings). I've tried to do a fairly good job, but I'm not perfect - the absence of a record (particularly a variant spelling) does not necessarily mean it does not exist. In some cases, exact birth dates and other inforamtion is given. This means that I have obtained the certificate from the General Registrar's Office. This list contains over 800 records, so it may take some time to load.
