The Hefert's and Lorenz' from Bohemia

Updated September 9, 2002

About Our Family Research

Researching my great-grandparents, Anton Hefert and Anna Lorenz Hefert who immigrated to the US in the late 1800's. They both came from Bohemia, but only met in Milvale, PA, a suburb of Pittsburgh.

I have found the ship Anna sailed on, the Adolphine, which was a 3 masted sailing ship. She was accompanied by a friend. They were both 16 at the time and came with no family members. What courage!

Anton came app. 1870, naturalization papers were dated then. I cannot find the ship he came over on.
He worked at the H.J. Porter Co. in Pittsburgh. A locomotive builder.
I have been told his father's name was Ignatz.

I'm not going to get discouraged in trying to find more information about them. All of their children are gone now so it is up to me to find the pieces to fit.
