Patrick Kirwin was born in Forgestown, parish of Maycarkey Tipperary County Ireland on January 6, 1830, The son of Patrick Kirwin and Mary Grace Kirwin. Young Patrick also had a sister named Mary.
Patrick arrived in the states via New Orleans in 1849. He had a contract to work with the C and MV railroad. The beginning of the Kirwin Family in America started with the marriage of Patrick to Mary Ryan in Circleville, Oh in 1855. They were blessed with twelve children, seven of whom lived to maturity.
