Hi, my name is Karen Anne Kirkum and I live in Glasgow, Scotland. I have a sister named Hazel and a nephew called Conor, both with the surname Kirkum. My father's name is Stanley Donald Kirkum, who died in 1985.
My grandfather, Stanley Francis Kirkum came from Fulham or Kensington in London, England and he had a twin brother named, Leonard two sisters, named Clara and Lillian and four other brothers named, Harry, Ted, Chris and Alfie. My grandfather served with the Seaforth Highlanders in World War 2 and while based in Scotland he met and married my granmother, Helen Donald. He then stayed in Scotland.
My great grandparents were Jacob and Clara Kirkum(nee Hughes)and my great great grandparents were William. R. and Caroline Kirkum who lived in Fulham, London. They lived in a cottage at 9 Latimer Mews at the time of the 1881 Census. The area was apparently a working class slum but the Kirkum Family were a proud family and were well known in the area since they were a very large family. William was a Builder's Labourer and had two other sons, named William.T and George. J.
I wish to add to this information by putting together a family tree with all ancestors and descendants.
