Family Tree Project Dear All I am compiling, with the help of a Family Tree computer software, the family tree and history for the descendants of Martin Luther Nsibirwa. This family tree will also include the spouses and the fathers/mothers of these descendants but, will exclude their ascendants and siblings i.e. families of persons not direct descendants of the above.
Definitions
Descendant: One who descends, as offspring from an ancestor, proceeding from an ancestor, (downwards) Ascendant: An ancestor or relative in the ascending line (upwards)
For example, my mother is included in this family tree but her father & mother (ascendants), brothers & sisters and their descendants are not included. The project scope would have been too large if I undertook the role of historian to every single person who is related to a descendant of Martin Luther Nsibirwa. Sorry !! that is not part of my project but I can offer guidance if requested. I am in the process of completing a separate family tree of my maternal grandfather’s descendants because, the Lubega family is just as important to me. So if you feel as strongly as I do, you could compile the history other half of your own family.
Eventually we will have a large family tree spanning lengths of paper although, sections of the family tree can be printed off so that each person can have a smaller tree with their direct descendants or ascendants. Notes about each individual family member can be included in each individuals record and photographs can also be scanned into the Family Album section of the family tree programme.
Future generations will be able to find out about their ascendants and look at the family pictures.
This tree is going to be massive, especially when you consider I am starting with 26 of Martin Luther Nsibirwa’s children, of which 24 had/have children and grand children. We are scattered all over the globe and sections of the family have lost touch. Through compiling our family history I hope to create an interest in what we all doing and perhaps increase inter family communication.
With e-mail, we can communicate and send pictures and family news to each other. We can also use the traditional method i.e. pen to paper and post. By the way the postal service in Uganda has greatly improved it is quicker and more reliable than in years gone by. Also an increasing number of family members in Uganda, over the age of 16 have access to e-mail, post box numbers and mobile telephones.
How can you help ?
If you all complete the attached questionnaire it will help me ensure I have accurate details for the family tree. Remember this is for the future generations, however, if you are uncomfortable with completing the whole questionnaire complete only the top section, this is the most important part of the Questionnaire. You can also e-mail pictures or mail copies of photographs you would like to be included in the family album. Please title these photographs stating Who (Name(s)), Where (Place) & When (Year) and any other details that should be included in the family album captions.
Please circulate blank copies of this questionnaire and this note to members of the family you are in touch with and e-mail e-mail: enkiwana@yahoo.co.uk
