This is a hobby gone wild. I started tracing my roots in the area when I was a young woman. That was many years ago, to my disbelief. Soon, I began to trace my aunt and uncles' families, along with their spouses family. Since my eight great grandparents were among the first settlers in the area, without any plans, my database has grown to thousands. As others heard that I had expanded to include their family, they brought information, old documents, and pictures to share. To make a long story short, it has now grown to the point of me having to build a private research room, where I share all that I have. This year, we added a genealogy swap meet to our annual event, that we call a Country Gathering. Even with the threat of rain,we had many here, and it was a fun event for all. Plans are underway for next year's event. Anyone with roots in western Upshur County, Texas, are invited to attend.
For anyone that would like to visit my research room, it is a good idea to email prior to visiting. As time permits, I plan to add my research to my website.
