My name is Andrea Hobrecht Klauer. I began researching my family tree several years ago. After the birth of my son almost 4 years ago I had to stop my research. With a small child I just didn't have enough time to devote to research. Now that he is a bit older I have been able to find more time to begin the research again. I still have a long way to go but I hope to start adding more information. There are some local geneology libraries I still need to visit. I also hope that anyone finding my family tree on the geneology. com site can send me an E Mail if they have any information I might be able to use.
My father was Alvin Hobrecht. He was an auto upholsterer and he had his own business for several years at 5100 S. Flores St. in San Antonio, Texas. He had 5 sistes, Edna, Emily, Annie, Beatrice and Josephine. He had 2 brothers, Edward Jr. and Max. Their father was Edward Hobrecht. He was married to Concepcion Hernandes. I am also trying to find any information on her and her ancestors. Since her last name is quite common in south Texas I have had some difficulty.
My great-grandfather was Max Hobrecht. According to the 1860 Texas Census he was born "at sea". His father August Ludwig Albin Hobrecht, known in most records as Albin, came to Texas in 1852. He came with his wife and 4 children. Wilhelm,19 yrs; Richard, 5 yrs; Elise or Elizabeth 3 yrs; and Anne, 2 yrs. Considering the large difference in age between Wilhelm and Richard, I do not believe his wife Emma was his first wife, but his second. She gave birth to my great-grandfather during their voyage to the United States. Another son, Alfred, was born two years later and then another son Egon. There is not much information on this last son. It is believed he died shortly after birth. This family came to Texas by way of Costa Rica, according to Albin's military discharge papers. They settled in Graytown, Texas. In 1865 a property assessment sheet list Wilhelm Hobrecht as owning some property. This is the only record I have found for him. I have not located any other document listing Wilhelm. I do not know what happened to Wilhelm Hobrecht. I never have found any information on Richard Hobrecht either. I have not verified if these two boys died. Elise married someone named "Stendebauch" and Anne married someone by the last name of "Seffel". I have not located any of their decendents. Max and Alfred married two sisters. Max married Maria Rosario Hernandes and Alfred married her younger sister Lena Hernandes. Egon appears to have died soon after birth. There is no documentation about him other than a letter from the Stieren & Koenig Oil Properties to Lena Hobrecht. The letter mentioned Elise Stendebauch, Anna Seffel, and Max Hobrecht. It also mentioned that Egon Hobrecht was dead by 1884. I have not located any Stendebauch or Seffel decendents. Any help on them would be greatly appreciated. I will add more to this web site as soon as I obtain it. Anyone with any information for me can contact me at Andreaklauer@Hotmail.com or at my office aklauer@san antonio.gov
Thanks in advance, Andrea
