Knox Family of North Carolina

Updated March 14, 2001

About Our Family Research

Benjamin Wilson Knox (1855-1937), Samuel Lee Knox (1865-1920), and Effie Knox were siblings born somewhere in North Carolina. Where? I'm not sure, but I beleive I'm narrowing the search down to either Rowan, Iredell, Mecklenburg, Wake, Cabarrus, or surrounding counties.
Sometime before 1888, Benjamin and Samuel migrated to Cleburne, Arkansas, located in Phillips County. Effie stayed in North Carolina and married, possibly to someone with the surname of Waddell, Wardell, or something similar.
This family was African American. According to Benjamin's death certificate, his mother's maiden name was Cowan.
The names of Benjamin's children were Effie, and Elnora (Alma). The names of Samuel's children were Rufus, Robert Isaiah, Roscoe William, Lillian, Pearl, Richard, Roosevelt, Espie, and Effie. Any information is appreciated.
