Just getting started on assembling the history of the Karl (Carl) Knuth family of Lake Co. (Reed City), Michigan. Karl is my great-grandfather. From a 1921 obituary on the death of his wife, Bernhardine Kuehl, b. 8/26/1843, Germany, I learned that the marriage resulted in the births of 4 sons and 5 daughters as follows; Herman, Charles, Martin, William (my grandfather), Bertha, Ida, Ricka, Anna, and Minnie.
Karl and wife Bernhardine emigrated from Germany in 1867 to Grand Rapids (via railway) and onto Lake Co. just west of Reed City (via stagecoach) where they homesteaded (farmed) 80 acres situated on the southwest corner of 3 Mile and Lakola Rds. My grandfather, William was born (8/14/1986) and died (1/28/1970) on the homestead. William married Minnie Lind in Reed City, MI (12/3/1913). Minnie had lived in nearby Chase Twp. prior to her marriage to William. This marriage resulted in the births of at least 4 children, as follows; Dorothy (Remus), Marjorie (Wilson), Orlin, and Lynn (my father).
Anyone with information on Karl (Carl) Knuth, Bernhardine Kuehle, Minnie Lind, their ancestors or descendants, are welcome to contact me via e-mail at www.lknuth@ford.com.
