Frank Henry Koch was born October 28, 1886 at Springfield, Ill. to Samuel Koch (Koach) and Evaline ______. Samuel was the son of Jacob Koch and Maria Schmidt. Samuel Koch was born in Potter County PA on March 28, 1833. Frank Henry went to the Black Hills at the age of 18 where he herded sheep near Dewey SD. Following tension between sheep and cattle people, he moved on to Wyoming. He workede at the Z-Bell ranch, the 101 and the Bar T. For many years he was known as the Bar-T-Kid. During the time of the Wounded Knee conflict he carried messages to Generals Miles and Johnson. He was the first Deputy Sherrif in Campbell County. He married Martha Clara Wells on October 28, 1899 at Hot Springs, SD. The marriage certificate shows his name spelled "Koach." Children include: Samuel Leo, Lloyd Henry, Netty Luella, Charles Kemmeth, Roy Montgomery, Mildred, Frank William, Edward, and Jim Maynard.
