This endeaver has taken quite some time and it has been rewarding all in the same. I started out by asking lots of quesitons to my Father Norbert Charles Koch. He never liked to talk about family and his mother, Theresa Andres Koch passed away when I was about 4 years old so I didn't get a chance to know her. His father Anton Robert Koch left the family when my father was about 5 or 6, so It was a sore subject anytime I tried to bring it up. My father passed away in 1993 so I figured I wouldn't be hurting his feelings by digging into my roots at that time. I started by contacting cousins, whom I do not recall meeting. They were very instrumental in getting some much needed information to me. This particular Koch family had come to America in 1880, My Great Grand Parents Anton (Sr) and Anna (Reidl) Koch left Germany and settled on a Farm in Norwalk Wisconsin. I have no idea where in Germany and the only clue I have is from the Obituary of Anton and Anna's daughter Louise (Louisa) Koch Helms. It said she was born near Vienna Austria. So far no luck in finding anything other than that tidbit.
I eventually found out where my Grandfather Anton (Jr) was buried and found that he left his wife Theresa for another woman. Back then a Catholic divorce was unheard of so Theresa lived in LaCrosse Wisconsin while her husband lived in Imlay City Michigan with the "other" woman. He passed away in 1947 and is buried in the Imlay City Township Cemetary.
