Lyle A Koch of Mount Clemens, MI Updated December 27, 2007
About Our Family Research
The Koch family that I am an ancestor of came from Russia/Poland/Prussia in the area currently known as Roshischtsche, Russia (Prussia). His passport was Russian, Birth Certificate was in Polish and his Baptisimal Certificate was in German. Anyway, he emigrated from Prussia to the United States in 1901 and landed at St. Joseph, MI. His father was born in Kolonia Czeben, Wolynskie, Poland. Was a musician (played the picolo) with a circus that travelled Russia, before he came to America sometime in 1900. Knew 6 or 7 languages. Wrote a lot of music for the circus and Don Koch has much of it at his home. August was an orphan. He and his brothers were adopted by Julius Koch and his family. August and Paulene had a total of 15 children. Only nine lived to adulthood.
