Family ancestry can be traced back to David Troyer from the early 1700's, and then to Michael, born 1754, then to John.birthdate unknown, to Michael, birthdate unknown, to Jonathan, born 1827, to John, born 1863, and to my grandfather John, born 1898, then to my father Kenneth, born 1935. My ancestors first came to America from the Palatinate area, Rhine River Valley of Germany where they had settled having come there from Switzerland under religious persecution--which was prevalent between 1550 and 1660. Most likely the Troyers had lived in the Emmantal Valley of Switzerland. After coming to America, they settled in Lancaster County PA, then pushed westward to Somerset County PA, then to Tuscarawas and Holmes County in Ohio, to Miami county, Indiana, and Seward and Fillmore counties in Nebraska. My great-grandmother Lucinda's lineage also goes back to early 1700's to Jacob Stutzman 1727, Christian, Jacob, Jacob, Christian,1824, Lucinda,1869 then my grandfather John, my father Ken. and me, Marla. Large reunions are held--the last one being in Pennsylvania in 1999. My great grandparents, John and Lucinda had 13 children, so it's hard to keep things straight. I have enough trouble thinking about my grandpa John and grandma Elsie's descendents--they had eight children!
