My name is Frano Korunic, nicknamed'Nano'. When I immigrated to SA I added an 'h' to my surname - Korunich. I was born 7/11/1944
on the island of Korcula, in the village Smokvica in SFR JUGOSLAVIA. Republic of HRVATSKA (CROATIA). My parents are Marija Maiden name Peselj born 24 April 1924 Smokvica. My father was Bozo BORN 25 12 1921 in Smokvica. Died 27 February 2000.His father was Franko Korunic born 13/3/1881 in Smokvica died 22/12/71 he was the son of Marko and Ursa Korunich born Hudulin from Smokvica. My grandmother was Matija Korunic born Korunic, her father was also Marko and her mother was Meeka born Rodovonic of Smokvica. Matija and Franko had six children, three boys and three girls: Marko, Franic,Bozo, Ursa, Meka and Ivica.
Marko immigrated to SA after the first world war. He married Sofia Polic in Johannesburg and they had two daughters Mirjana and Ilona. Mirjana married Vinko Andric and had a son Vincent.
Elona married Antony Sinovic and had three children Antony, Mark
and Tanya.Sofia and Marko died in Johannesburg, burried in West Park Cemetary JHB.
Franic Korunic married Ivica and had a son Kruno born 31/3/1936 in Croatia. Franic immigrated to SA and his wife and child followed two years later. They separated for good and divorced many years later. Ivica died on New Years Day 1981 in Durban from heart failure, she was burried there.Kruno finnished University as Engineer and immigrated to UK. Franic and his common-law-wife had three children Frankie, Susana and Anita.
Frankie was born in Johannesburg SA and Susana and Anita was born in Luanshia in Zambia. Franic and Hendrina married years later, because Ivica refused to give him a divorce. The laws had changed and this is when he was able to divorce her and marry Henrina. Franic died in JHB 28/02/1988 OF Cancer. He was cremated and his ashes, I took to our family grave in Smokvica.
Frankie married and English girl Hazel and they had two sons, Dale and Daren. Susana married a German man, had two children Selma and Rudie. Susana died of Cancer at age 45years and was burried in Selebi Phikwe Botswana. Anita married in JHB, to a Scotish man Kane and they had a daughter Marion.
Ursa married Banicevic and had four daughters and three sons.
Meka married Petsotic and had a son and daughter.
Ivitsa married Kunasic and had four sons.
I, married Vinka Bacic, and had a daughter Susana. The marriage did not last. I immigrated to Zambia in Africa and was divorced.
In 1971 I immigrated to SA. In 1974 I immigrated to Botswana and worked on the Mine for BCL in Selebi Phikwe. I married Dorothy Joan Mac Donald of Johannesburg on 4/04/1975. We had three children Nikolina Marija, Maria Joan and Dominika Sofija Kristina. Dorothy is the daughter of John Robert William Mac Donald of Scotaland and Pamela Joan born Hallaby of Johannesburg.
