I started doing geneaology about five to six years ago. I am trying to trace my grandfather. He came over to the United States around 1918-1922. He was of Albanian descent. He told my father things about the "Old Country". From what was told to myself, I began my journey. First, to my hometown in Centralia, Illinois to Salt Lake City, Utah. I then spoke to people in Turkey, Albania, France, Greece, Washington, D.C., New York, and Chicago, Illinois. I have made several personal contacts in each of these places. I have not yet found out definite information, but I feel like I am well on my way. My grandfather came over here with two other men, which he said took his last name ALLI. One of their names was Nouredin Mersin. They went to Ellis Island, then to Salt Lake City, Utah. From there they worked their way up to Kenosha, Wisconsin and Waukegan, Illinois. They worked and managed a hotel in either place. They then migrated down to Centralia, Illinois. I will not rest until I find out who this wonderful man really is, so I know who I am.
