My father, Zvonimir, was born in Surmanci (W. Herzegovina) in 1929 and my mother, Roberta, was born in Toronto, Ontario in 1937. Her parents were Jessie Kathleen of Toronto, Ontario and Hugh of Port Dover, Ontario. My birth on January 16, 1959 took place on a winter's night in the amazingly dull Los Angeles suburb of Covina, California.

I have one younger (half) sister, Anush Morales, nee Ouzounian. Her father, Hagop, was born in Aleppo, Syria.

My father's siblings remained in Western Herzegovina, with some half-siblings in Slavonija and a half-brother who passed in Belgrade. I am the only Kordic from this part of the family to be born in the USA.

My husband, Samir, was born in Sarajevo, the son of Enes and Senija. Samir has one daughter from his first marriage, Ena, also born in Sarajevo.
