About Our Family Research

Kotsidis family (formerly known as Kotsoglou) were forced out of Trapezounta, Pontos during the Asia Minor catastrophe. Running for their lives, my great grandparents boarded the first ship available. The ship was going to Crimea. There they set up a new life until Stalin's authorities exiled the whole family to Uzbekistan during the repression period. Most Greeks were forced out of Russia and Ukraine and sent to Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan. Kotsidis family remained in Uzbekistan (Kokand) until 1989. I was born there. In 1991 our family repatriated to Greece.
