I am beginning research on families Greer, Walker, and Scott.
Joseph Greer (1836-1912) was my great-great grandfather who served in the Civil War and later farmed in Kansas. He married Elizabeth Benson and different reports indicate they had either one or two children before Elizabeth died in 1863. Joseph then married Mahala Jane Cheeseman and they had ten children: Plumiah B. Greer b. 1866, Martha Ann Greer b. 1868, James M. Greer b. 1871, Della Greer b. 1873, Mollie Greer b. 1875, John Wesley Greer b. 1879, Rutherford B. H. Greer b. 1881, Lester Greer b. 1881, Katie Greer (Kersey?) b. 1884, and Clovie O. Greer b. 1891.
John Wesley Greer (1879-1947) was my great grandfather who married Elsie Maude Walker (1885-1958)and they lived in Kansas and Oklahoma. Their children were Joseph Greer b. 1906, Margie Emily Greer b. 1909 (sometimes referred to as Marjorie Greer), Wesley Greer b. 1911, Cecil Greer b. 1913, and Bert Greer b. unknown.
Margie was my grandmother who married Virgil Scott in Oklahoma and they had one child, Richard Wayne Scott, who was my father. Margie and Virgil were later divorced so I know little about the Scotts. Margie married Paul J. Allread in Oklahoma and they moved to Idaho in the 1930's.
I am interested in genealogy and the documentation it takes to do it right, but I am also interested in any stories and anecdotes that make family history more interesting.
