Locating my ancestors began in 1985 when I found Rie Veneema-Kreps in Vandeem, Netherlands. She has done much work to find the Kreps line in Europe. Our line is traced to Ruetegen, Switzerland in the 1600's when the name was Krebs. It appears as if the family came from around the city of Kues. In the 1400's a Nickolas Von Krebs became a Catholic Priest taking the title of Nickolas Cusanus,(Nickolas of Cues). He rose the the position of Cardinal, entombed in St Peters of the Chains Church in Rome.
Both of my grandparents migrated from the Netherlands in the 1870's. Grandmother Pheifer's family went to SDak then to Minnesota and finally to Orange City,Iowa where her parents are intered. My grandparents came to Colorado in 1909 settling in the Greeley Co area near Kersey where I was born and raised.
