My Great Grandfather and Grandmother came to America from Sicily around 1900 through New Orleans.
Their names were Luigi and Giovanna (Geraci) Mangino.
I recently decided to look deeper at my Great Grandmother's lineage because I have more information regarding names and siblings of the Geraci Line.
Maybe I have some distant relatives in other parts of the United States. It would be nice to know and be able to pass along to my siblings.
My father passed away in 1997 and one of his last requests was to "keep a good name". I have always felt that "Mangino" (my maiden name) was precious and wonderful and now I am holding onto the "Geraci" name as well. My father's heritage was always important to him and it is to me as well.
It has been passed down to me that my Great Grandparents were from the village of Mussomeli in the province of Caltanissetta, Sicily.

I don't know whether other relatives came to America from Sicily. My Great Grandparents, Luigi and Giovanna Mangino, moved up to Alabama from New Orleans, settled and died there. It is believed that Luigi was an only child, so I probably would have greater luck finding information from the Geraci side of their family.
It would be great to find other connections and possibly more history about my family line.
