Secured data for my mothers family tree, still searching for fathers side of the tree. The most are all from, born & raised in Norway the North country. From Bodo and up the coast line to the Very northern parts of Norway. My father Olav Hansen immigrated to Canada in 1930.We have many relatives to the south of us.
I have contacted the living relatives and there are so few with history on the family, and I found that in Norway the fathers first name was used as the childs last name making it a difficult task to undertake. But I am enjoying the challenge. We have had visitors from Norway and They contribute a great deal of data, I have used the libraries and internet for a great deal of assistance.
Mother is 91 years old and I would like to hand her a copy of her family tree for next January, her 92nd. This stimulated her memories and she feels that she is right here with me working away.
We have had three family reunions over the years, I our youth we had family gatherings every summer, the greatedst days of our lives.
Being raised on a farm , made this a wonderful adventure for some of the city raised relatives. Sampling homegrown produce, and picking their supper was fantastic.
