Includes NotesNotes for Leo Henry DeBeauford:
There are so many things that I remember about my Dad, it is hard to know where to start.
I remember when we lived downtown Pensacola, on Garden Street. We were the only brick house in our block, and to this day it is still there, and still the only brick one. Daddy would come home in the evenings from the farm. I (was about 2 to 3 years old) would hide behind a chair in our livingroom,(the same chair every night). He would always come in and call "Sandra where are you?,I'm home". Then he would go about looking behind the couch and other chairs in the livingroom, and findly making his way over to peek behind the one I was behind. We would laugh and giggle, he would pick me up and off to the kitchen we would go, to see how long before supper.

There was also the time I snuck into the bathroom one day after Daddy had left for the farm, and took his razor. Somehow I climbed up onto the bathroom sink, so I could see in the mirror, (just like Daddy) and tried to shave.... just like daddy. Well, let's just say I didn't do too badly, even though I to this day have a small scar on/under my chin.

There was another day, that I was outside in our back yard with our two dogs. Blackie (a black german sheppard), and Skipper(a blonde cocker spanial). I had on a little dress and white patient leather shoes. Well, I got tired of being in the back yard, so I just walked around to the gate, which was locked, to keep me as well as the dogs safe. Garden Street was the main East -- West street to the actual Downtown Pensacola shopping area. Anyway, I looked at that chain link fence with the locked gate and just started climbing it. Yep! I went over that fence just like I knew what I was doing. Now you must realize this was the first time I had climbed that fence, so Mother thought I was still out there with the dogs. She came out the back door in to the yard, didn't see me and started calling me. I would answer her, but softly, so she didn't hear me. She asked both neighbors on either side of the house if they had seen me. Both said no, they saw me earlier in the yard with the dogs. But it had been a while. Mother continues to call me and started to get , shall we say a little bit paniced. She came out the front door, and there I was just sitting on the bottom step, watching all the cars go by. She didn't beleive me when I told her how I got into the front yard and on the steps. That was the first and last time I ever did that trick.

I have a lot of wonderful memories of my Dad, and some not so wonderful also. He was my Dad, my pal, my best friend, my teacher, and yes the one who dished out the spankings with his belt.
