The Nelson, Jenkin, Rosenthal families of Australia Updated May 9, 2003
About Our Family Research
I have found interesting "cousins" in Germany, on my Mother's side of my family. We keep in touch, the son is learning English, his wife speaks it, and I have a German pen-friend who translates my E-mails to his father in the North of Germany into German, sends them back to me, and I can then send them to him in his own language.
The Rosenthals came out to Australia in 1853. My mother was descended from their first daughter. They brought 7 of their 8 children with them. Their marriage broke up and Ernst Rosenthal had a relationship/marriage with another woman and this produced one daughter, but I have been unable to find any trace of her in Australia.
Neil Rosenthal in Adelaide South Australia has compounded an impressive family tree book and all interested have been able to buy copies. It is to be updated in about 3 years time, 2006.
