I have started a Kydd Family Tree. My Great grandfather, George Kydd, b:Dec.31,1842, in India. His parants were in the British Military. George imigrated to Pennsylvania in the mid 1860,s,married Sara Gowan of Sarnia Ont., moved to the mid west,then to the Rainy River Dist.in north western Ont. late 1890's. They had two sons, William,George (my grandfather) And a daughter, Georgina. William married Birtha Corless, who came from England with her family in 1901. George, my grandfather, married Nellie (Ferguson)Henderson,and later moved to Port Arthur ,now Thunder Bay. Georgina married Bert Lindquist, who moved there with his family in 1891, from Parry Sound Dist. to get free crown land that was advertised by the gov. (Mar 23/01). There are news paper articles that tell stories about my Grandfather being good friends with Frank and Jessie James. My father Orval Kydd my brother Rodger,and I(Dennis)were born in what is now Thunder Bay Ont.My cousin Roy Kydd is helping with the research from Thunder Bay. My great grandfather,arrived in the Rainy River Dist. in the late 1890's with his family, and settled on free crown land,near Emo, Ont. Son, William,married Bertha Corless. A daughter (name unknown) married, Bert Lindquist. No mention of son George (my grandfather). Moved to Port Arthur,1918 William moved to Calgary after WW1. I got this from a book, The River of Time.which is a history of the area.
