This family tree project began just a few years ago, an attempt to archive information that could be lost, especially with the deaths of my grandparents, their siblings, my mother and father. I had filled in quite a bit of my family history, only to lose it when my computer suffered irreperable technical damage. I hope that by placing this on the net, I can hear from more relatives and fill in more information.
My family originated in the Philippines and quite a few of the Lagrimas and Mapa families immigrated to the U.S. in the early 1920's. They began in places like Hawaii and Seattle, WA. Those on the West Coast made their way down to San Jose, CA where my father, his brother and two sisters were born.
The Martinez family (my great-grandfather was born in Santander, Spain and immigrated to the Philippines) began immigrating to America in the late 1960's. My mother and her sister were some of the first to arrive in Los Angeles in 1967, paving the way for siblings, cousins, aunts and uncles to come.
