Updated November 24, 2003

About Our Family Research

All descendants of Jean Drogue-dit-Lajoie, the French and Indian War Soldier of the Guyenne Regiment commanded by Captain DuBleau, Chevalier de Louis, the Fall River Drogues arrived in the United States shortly before the Civil War. Jean's grandson, François Drogue, actually appeared in Burlington, Vermont, as early as 1834 (at age 16), but returned to Ste-Brigide, Canada, and married there in 1840 (to Adelaide Desnoyers-dite-Desmarais). He emigrated to the States to the Fall River area with his sons François-Napoléon, Olivier, Jean-Baptiste-Albert, Joseph and Telesphore. Susequently, his daughters, Rose, Marie, and Philomene also passed through Fall River prior to marrying men and moving away, Rose to Magog, Canada, Marie to Magog, and Philomene to Swanton/Burlington, Vermont. A fourth daughter, Alasia also married in Canada and settled in Magog.
