The Lamoureux's and the Port's come from Acadian and French-Canadian stock. Both of our families are descended from the original settlers of Port Royal, Canada. Both of our families emigrated to the United States and settled in the Northeast (both) and Louisiana (Bev's), though at different times. Ray's maternal side of the family is descended from Norwegian and English stock. The Norwegian side came to America and settled in Minnesota. The English went to Canada, to New York, then Michigan. Some names from this side of his family are HERBERG, PELKEY, GATES, and BISHOP.
Bev's maternal side of the family are mostly rooted in the North Carolina area. Some families she is trying to trace are BRYANT (BRYAN), TEABOUT, and MATHEWS. There are also the RILEY's, who imigrated to Rhode Island from Ireland.
